KUALA LUMPUR – Just a day shy of tomorrow’s deadline to extend the movement control order (MCO) 3.0, the National Security Council (NSC) continues to keep mum over the possible extension.

In view of the situation, Klang MP Charles Santiago opted to take his grouses over his social media accounts, denouncing Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob for delaying important announcements up to the last moment.

“It seem to be a feature of the #KerajaanGagal (failed government),” Charles said in Facebook and Twitter postings today.

“After one and a half years, Ismail Sabri has not learnt that planning is essential in managing the pandemic. This is totally unfair to families and businesses.”

MCO 3.0 had previously been extended from June 15 to June 28.

However, as of today (June 27), there has been no official announcement as to whether it will be extended to a later date.

According to a report by Astro awani, it is believed that Ismail Sabri will be making an announcement today pertaining to the status of MCO 3.0.

A statement claiming that the MCO 3.0 will be extended until July 12 went viral on social media yesterday but was soon debunked by the NSC.

Based on the National Recovery Plan, the government will only consider shifting to Phase 2 only when daily coronavirus cases fall below 4,000.

The number of Covid-19 cases in the country has remained above 5,000 for four consecutive days, indicating that the MCO will most likely be extended.

Despite NSC’s and Ismail Sabri’s silence, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said that the nationwide lockdown will not end tomorrow as scheduled.

He announced today that the Phase 1 of the National Recovery Plan Phase 1 will continue until the country has a daily Covid-19 caseload of less than 4,000.

The government, he added, is set to announce more comprehensive assistance to all groups of society either on Monday or Tuesday. – The Vibes, June 27, 2021
