KUALA LUMPUR – Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba has attributed the incident of an empty Covid-19 vaccination syringe in Bangi to human error.

“No malicious intent was found but it was due to human error. This was a very isolated case in comparison to the 15 million successful inoculations.”

He was referring to an incident at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Mitec) and another at Bangi Avenue Convention Centre last Sunday.

As for the incident at Mitec, Adham said the inoculators involved had been removed while the victim in Bangi received the proper jab.

He added that such incidents are being investigated and there was no evidence that vaccines are being sold on the black market.

Meanwhile, vaccination coordinating minister Khairy Jamaluddin said in a press conference that the most of the 13 reports were proven false or inconclusive.

He added that vaccine recipients are allowed to record their jabs on video.

“CITF takes this very seriously, we assure the public that anyone who comes to a PPV (Covid-19 vaccination centre) for the vaccine dose, should get the right dosage.

“The speculation that our frontliners are involved in a syndicate is untrue.”

The police had also confirmed in a statement that 13 reports have been lodged about incidents of empty vaccinations and investigations are under way.

Of the 13 reports, seven are in Kuala Lumpur, three in Selangor and one each in Kedah, Perak and Melaka. – The Vibes, July 23
