KOTA BARU – Kelantan’s Sultan Muhammad V has urged the state’s residents who have yet to get vaccinated against Covid-19 to do so by registering themselves or utilising the walk-in facility at jab sites.
This is so the state achieves its target of having 80% of its adult population vaccinated by September 30.
Datuk Nik Mohd Shafriman Nik Hassan, senior private secretary to the sultan, in a statement today said the ruler is saddened that Kelantan only has a 50% vaccination rate, which is among the lowest in the country.
“His Royal Highness welcomes the announcement by Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin on the allocation of an additional 1.2 million doses for Kelantan to speed up vaccinations.
“He really hopes that the people of Kelantan will get vaccinated immediately, so that they can protect themselves and their family members.”
The sultan believes that getting the jab is an individual’s responsibility to themselves, their family and society, he said.
“With the number of daily cases in Kelantan now in the four figures, Sultan Muhammad V also suggested that all parties work together to expand outreach programmes statewide, and especially in rural areas, so that the community is confident about the effectiveness of vaccines.” – Bernama, September 7, 2021
