KUALA LUMPUR – After yesterday’s high political drama, Sarawak’s ruling coalition today reiterated its support for Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and the Perikatan Nasional (PN) federal government.
Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s (GPS) whip and Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said the PN government led by Muhyiddin will be able to continue implementing and enforcing the right measures to curb the Covid-19 surge.
The support from GPS came after PAS’ statement of support issued by secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan.
GPS comprises Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu, Parti Rakyat Sarawak, Progressive Democratic Party and Sarawak United People's Party.
Yesterday, Umno Supreme Council announced to remain a PN ally after a four-hour meeting to deliberate its position.
Talks were rife among Barisan Nasional and Umno MPs in considering their position whether to withdraw their support for Muhyiddin after the Yang di-Pertuan Agong rejected his proposal to declare emergency on Sunday. – The Vibes, October 27, 2020
