From sacked to back: Lokman an Umno man once more

KUALA LUMPUR – Datuk Lokman Noor Adam is back in Umno after being sacked by the party in February last year.

In a brief statement, he said his membership has been accepted following a decision by the Supreme Council last night.

“I got a call from Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan informing me that the Supreme Council has accepted my membership.

“I thank the president and the Supreme Council. God willing, I will do my best to ensure Umno wins in the 15th general election.”

Last year, then secretary-general Tan Sri Annuar Musa said Lokman’s sacking included his removal as a Supreme Council member.

Lokman being booted from Umno is believed linked to a leaked audio clip alleging that president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi tried to convince the party leadership to back then prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Lokman recently made the headlines when he was found guilty of contempt of court for intimidating a witness in former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s 1Malaysia Development Bhd trial.

The high court on July 15 sentenced him to a month’s jail. – The Vibes, September 30, 2021
