GEORGE TOWN – The term “may I come in” may no longer apply to MIC in the Barisan Nasional coalition, as linchpin Umno is looking to extract the proverbial pound of flesh after Tan Sri S.A. Vigneswaran recently called for Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s resignation.
Penang Deputy Chief Minister II P. Ramasamy did not mince words when he said in a statement today that MIC may not be Umno’s “Indian darling” any more.
Ramasamy said Umno’s “invite” might be extended to “obsequious or slavish parties” like the Malaysian Makkal Sakthi Party (MMSP).
He went on to describe MMSP as the party that has “undermined lock, stock, and barrel the principle struggle waged by Hindraf for the betterment of the Indian community”.
“MMSP is all for bread crumbs in return for blind obedience to Umno.
“MMSP as a representative of the Indian community will be a disaster to Indians who yearn for dignity and a fair economic share.
“It is sad that the grand old party of the Indians – MIC – a party that was sheepishly loyal to Umno for decades must give way to MMSP, a mosquito Indian party.”
He added that Vigneswaran has no choice but to eat humble pie and issue “an unmitigated apology to Umno or face the prospect of being eclipsed” by MMSP.
