KUANTAN –The National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas) is preparing an action plan to assist cinemas which have temporarily ceased operations due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah said Finas started working on an action plan upon hearing that cinemas might close due to the lack of patrons.

"We will also review to assist them over the question of entertainment tax which is under the jurisdiction of local authorities and we are prepared to negotiate with them,” he said.

Today, two cinema operators, Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) and TGV Cinemas (TGV) were reported to be closing down temporarily from Nov 2 as a measure to contain the spread of Covid-19 which has seen a recent surge. – Bernama, October 30, 2020
