KUALA LUMPUR – The country recorded 659 new Covid-19 cases today, a decrease from yesterday's total of 799.
Another positive note is that 1,000 cases were discharged today – the most in a single day – bringing the total number of recoveries to 21,248.
Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the latest infections bring the total number of positive cases to 31,584.
The total number of positive cases is 10,051.
Of the new cases, only one was imported while the rest were local.
Sabah continues to record the highest number of infections with 529 today. The Klang Valley recorded a total of 70 cases.
Breaking down the number of cases further, he said Selangor recorded 55 cases; Negri Sembilan (25); Labuan (12); Kuala Lumpur (11); Sarawak (nine); Perak (six); Putrajaya (four); Kedah, Penang and Terengganu (two each); and Pahang and Kelantan (one each).
137 cases were linked to the prison and temporary detention centre clusters in the Kepayan Prison Cluster (26 cases) and Rumah Merah Cluster (111 cases).
No new deaths were reported, keeping the cumulative death toll at 249.
Eighty-three patients are in intensive care, with 19 requiring breathing assistance.
