KUALA LUMPUR – The sinkhole in Jalan Hartamas 1 has resulted in a road closure and disrupted plans for those heading to nearby government offices, such as the National Registration Department (NRD), Immigration Department and Home Ministry, to conduct their affairs.
Those intending to use the road have to find alternative routes or be forced to walk along Jalan Hartamas 1, with some pedestrians seen stopping to take pictures of the sinkhole.
Other pedestrians, however, complained of the disruption to their plans.
Shanmugam Ganesh was on his way to the Immigration Department office and said: “It made plans difficult today, as there are a lot of government offices here.
“I myself was on the way immigration office.”
Meanwhile, Hassan Nadil Al Hajeid shared similar complaints as he had to travel from Pudu to attend to official government matters here.
“Yes, I’m here for official government work. I took a Grab and they had to drop me off elsewhere due to road closure, forcing many of us to walk.”
According to Kuala Lumpur City Hall’s Integrated Transport Information System, both lanes of the road located at the intersection of Jalan Hartamas 1 and Jalan Dutamas 1 are currently closed to traffic.
The closure is understood to have been implemented as the sinkhole is expanding.
Currently, workers are present in the area and can be seen conducting repair works. – The Vibes, October 21, 2021
