LANGKAWI – Pejuang is prepared to support Budget 2021, said chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad ahead of the bill’s tabling on Friday.

However, he said, the party must first study the Budget’s contents before its MPs agree to support it.

“We want to agree, but we do not know (the contents). Surely, we are not going to sign a blank cheque. We have to know what’s in the Budget,” the Langkawi MP said here last night.

“The text of the Budget is thick and in two languages...we have to read it first.”

He was asked by the press to comment on the call by Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah for MPs to give their undivided support to Budget 2021 for the sake of Malaysians’ well-being and recovery of the pandemic-battered economy.

On Pejuang’s registration snag, the former prime minister urged the Registrar of Societies to clearly state what is needed for the party’s application to be approved.

“Tell us what is incomplete. We will abide by the law. If we have infringed the law, we will amend accordingly.” – Bernama, November 1, 2020
