KUALA TERENGGANU – PAS representatives in the current government have gained 80% support from the people, according to a recent survey.
PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said ministers and deputy ministers from PAS have gained the people’s confidence because of their religious values.
He did not, however, disclose when and who conducted the survey.
“PAS representatives in the government, even with religious backgrounds, are serving the government with professionalism,” he said.
Takiyuddin said this in his winding up speech at the party’s 67th general assembly held in Kuala Terengganu, which ended today.
PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man is the environment and water minister, its vice-president senator Idris Ahmad is the minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) and Takiyuddin is the energy and natural resources minister.
Five of PAS representatives hold deputy minister’s posts including Datuk Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff (Women, Family and Community Ministry); Datuk Awang Hashim (Human Resources Ministry); Datuk Ahmad Amzad Hashim (Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry); Nik Muhammad Zawawi Salleh (Agriculture and Food Industries Ministry); and Datuk Ahmad Marzuk Shaary [Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affair)].
Takiyuddin said the representatives have served the people satisfactorily with principle and dignity, and this has given the people confidence.
He also said the party is no longer having financial problems as all its elected representatives have to contribute funds to the party monthly.
He said ministers have to contribute RM8,000 monthly and deputy ministers have to pay RM7,000 monthly.
“During Covid-19 and the movement control order, there was a salary cut for the cabinet ministers,” he added.
PAS has 845,920 active members and some 50,000 inactive members with a total of 7,618 branches and operations in 197 divisions out of the 222 parliamentary constituencies.
Its youth wing has 185 divisions, while the women’s wing operates in 182 divisions. – The Vibes, November 7, 2021
