KUALA LUMPUR – An opposition MP has claimed that several of his constituents received appointments for their Covid-19 booster doses only to find the clinic that was slated to administer the vaccine was closed.
Raising the matter in the Dewan Rakyat today, Cha Kee Chin (Rasah-PH) pointed out that this issue happened a day after the MySejahtera app experienced a glitch that saw individuals receiving false statuses of being high-risk or under surveillance.
In his reply, Deputy Health Minister I Datuk Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali said the ministry is constantly updating and improving the MySejahtera system.
He acknowledged that situations such as that narrated by Cha do occur.
"Sometimes an appointment is given to receive the dose at a particular clinic, but when the vaccine recipient goes there the clinic is closed.
“Of course, MySejahtera can’t call all the clinics as there are many,” Dr Noor Azmi said.
He added that in such situations, the responsibility is also on the centre providing the vaccine, which should inform recipients of closures.
Meanwhile, with regard to the low uptake of booster doses, Dr Noor Azmi said the ministry has been providing information to encourage public confidence via various platforms, including social media.
He encouraged the public, particularly those who are vaccine-hesitant, to get the right facts.
“I urge the people to refrain from referring to unverified facts, and consult the right facts and people.
“We have explained many times and we will continue to do so. The vaccine is for the safety of all of us,” he added. – The Vibes, November 8, 2021
