KUALA LUMPUR – With Malaysia recording 6,355 Covid-19 infections yesterday, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin warned that most new cases were transmitted by close contacts.
Taking to Twitter, the Rembau MP said that the virus was spreading among family members and friends, urging the public to practice TRIIS (Test, Report, Isolate, Inform and Seek) to prevent further infections.
He also emphasised that those infected should immediately inform family members, friends and other close contacts to ensure they are promptly able to perform self-tests.
“Most new Covid-19 cases are now coming from close contacts (family and friends).
“That’s why practising #TRIIS is important, especially inform your family and friends if you have tested positive so they can quickly do a self-test,” Khairy tweeted today.

As of yesterday, 68,637 Covid-19 cases and 246 clusters remain active.
Since November 15, which saw 5,143 new infections, the number of positive cases are on the rise despite a slight drop yesterday.
Currently, according to the ministry’s CovidNow database, Malaysia’s positivity rate is at 4.4%, with more than 140,000 Covid-19 tests performed daily.
