KUALA LUMPUR – DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang again slammed Datuk Seri Najib Razak for mocking him as being “too obsessed”.
In a statement today, the Iskandar Puteri lawmaker said Najib is only doing so in hopes of stopping the public discussion of issues – the possibility of his return as the 10th prime minister in the 15th general election (GE15) and his brother Tan Sri Nazir Razak’s proposal for a reset of national policies and institutions.
“He could not be more wrong when he thought that he could achieve these two objectives by painting me as being too obsessed with him,” Lim said.
“Firstly, let me declare that Najib personally is not important, but it is in the interests of all Malaysians who want a clean and honest government to ensure that he does not return as the 10th prime minister in GE15, for it would mean the return of the days when Malaysia was associated with ‘kleptocracy at its worst’.
“Secondly, while we can agree or disagree with the question of modus operandi, Malaysians must welcome Nazir’s call for a reset of national policies and institutions, as it is precisely because of the failure to reset national policies and institutions that one country after another have overtaken Malaysia, whether in international competitiveness, good governance, or in having an effective and efficient government.”
Lim said he foresees that Najib will use all means to distract public attention from those said issues.
“I expect Najib to use all sorts of stratagems through his cybertroopers and mainstream printed media to distract public attention from these two issues, but for the sake of the nation and that of our children and children’s children, we must not allow such diversions and distractions to succeed.”
Lim has been very vocal about criticising Najib on social media in recent years.
In one of his posts, Lim said the worst outcome from the recent Melaka polls was that Najib could be the country’s 10th prime minister.
Najib did not pass up the opportunity to reply to the post by asking the DAP supremo if he would lose his appetite if he failed to mention his name.
“Every day you say my name Najib, Najib, Najib. Would you lose your appetite if you don’t say my name?
“Or do you want to date me, uncle,” the Pekan MP hit back at him in the comment section.
A day later, Najib ridiculed Lim again for being fixated with him and uploading social media posts about him every day.
“Who is Lim Kit Siang’s son? Guan Eng or Najib Razak? Why does he post pictures of me on Facebook every day, but doesn’t bother about his son?
