KOTA KINABALU – Civil servants in Sabah will receive a half-month bonus with a minimum payment of RM1,000, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Mohd Noor announced.
Stressing that civil servants are not excluded from feeling the brunt of the Covid-19 pandemic, he hopes that the bonus will ensure smooth running of the administrative machinery.
The bonus will benefit 20,271 state civil servants, including temporary, contract, and workers paid on a daily basis. The payment will be made in January next year.
Hajiji said that the state government will also fund preliminary works on the construction of an affordable housing scheme for Sabah civil servants.
“I hope that this incentive will inspire state civil servants to work harder to improve the quality of service to the people,” he said when tabling the Sabah Budget 2022 at the legislative assembly today.
The Sabah government has also allocated RM56.44 million to upgrade digital facilities for the civil service to improve the delivery system in line with the new norms.
Another RM3.75 million is allocated under the state Finance Ministry and state Public Service Department for the continuation of the electronic government development agenda (eGovernment), Creative Innovation Programme and ICT Development Programme.
“During the period of year 2022 to 2025, the state government, through Sabah Net, will continue to upgrade all government offices’ internet lines to fibre-optic networks with speeds from 30Mbps to 100Mbps,” he said.
A total of RM8.35 million is also allocated to sponsor civil servants to pursue masters and doctoral degrees at selected local and foreign universities. – The Vibes, December 3, 2021
