PUTRAJAYA – Around 130 members of a non-governmental organisation from Kuala Nerus, Terengganu supporting former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak have made their way to the front doors of the Palace of Justice today.
Charity and Rescuer Club (CARC) chairman Mohd Zamzaini Zulkifli told The Vibes that his club members had left Terengganu at around 10pm last night and had arrived here in the wee hours of this morning.
“We are here to show our support for Datuk Seri Najib Razak. We arrived at Presint 8 this morning.
“There’s around 130 of us, we came in two buses and three vans,” Zamziri said.
Another CARC member Azmi Bidin said that the club does not believe the accusations and charges laid out against the Pekan MP, adding that he believes it is a conspiracy.

CARC had also conducted solat hajat (prayers of request to Allah) to free Najib a few days ago, similar to another group of Muslim supporters who had performed the same prayers yesterday.
“I hope Najib will not be found guilty. This is just a conspiracy against him,” said Azmi.
The supporters can be heard chanting 'Hidup Bossku' outside the Palace of Justice, followed by the song 'Inilah Barisan Kita'. pic.twitter.com/Z6jMe4PxX0

The male CARC members were told to wear white baju melayu and songkok, while the women wore black tudung and baju kurung.
There were also female Barisan Nasional members loitering at the footsteps of the court.
The Umno lawmaker and his legal team will be hearing the Court of Appeal verdict on Najib’s appeal to overturn his conviction today via Zoom, seeing as they were exposed to a positive Covid-19 case.
Lead defence counsel Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah had applied to the appellate court via its registrar to vacate yesterday and today’s dates, which had been set by the court to hear Najib’s application to include fresh evidence related to the case – which has already been denied.
It is learnt that Shafee’s son Muhammad Farhan had tested positive for the virus, which prompted the notice to be sent to the registrar’s office late yesterday.
In the said notice, Shafee had stated that the entire defence team including his client have been classified as close or casual contacts with Farhan and that the judges involved needed to be notified of the matter.
However, the court had rejected Shafee’s plea, and the court bench chaired by Datuk Abdul Karim Abdul Jalil said the proceedings will be held online as provided for under the Courts of Judicature Act. – The Vibes, December 8, 2021
