KUALA LUMPUR – Activist and cartoonist Zulkiflee Anwar Alhaque (better known as Zunar) took to Facebook today to share photos of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s golf outing in Singapore.

Zunar slammed Najib for his actions, saying the former prime minister abused the court’s trust after applying for the return of his passport, citing he needed to visit his daughter and grandchild.

“This isn’t morally right. Najib got his passport back to visit his grandchild.

“So, he should only go to Singapore for that and come back immediately instead of doing other things,” Zunar told The Vibes.

Earlier today, the cartoonist posted photos of Najib with another individual – one of the duo playing golf, and another of Najib posing in front of a Rolls Royce vehicle – with the caption “Meeting grandchildren in Singapore?”

The post did not escape Najib’s notice, with him returning a salvo online.

“Of course I would not be with my grandchild 24 hours a day for six days while I am in Singapore?

“The individual in the picture is Sam Goi who is known as the Popiah King in Singapore,” Najib said on Facebook.

With a net worth estimated at US$1.7 billion (RM7.16 billion), Najib said Goi is a fan of the Pekan MP’s economic and development policies during his time as prime minister.

He added that Goi sought his advice over Malaysia’s economic direction given the billionaire has intentions to further invest in the country.

“Is it wrong to use my personal time to give my views to international investors, even though I am no longer in the cabinet?”

Despite Najib’s retort, Zunar still thinks the former prime minister’s actions are wrong.

“It’s not about that (investments). In the first place, Najib should not abuse the trust given by the court. He applied to see his grandchildren in Singapore, so perhaps he shouldn’t have applied to visit that country for six days.

“Just apply for one or two days.” – The Vibes, December 12, 2021
