KUALA LUMPUR – Travellers entering the country who have received their booster shots will begin serving a reduced quarantine period of five days from next Monday (January 24) onwards, says Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

Khairy, in a press conference today, said this includes teenagers from the age of 12 to 17 who have been boosted and entering the country from abroad.

Travellers who are fully vaccinated but have not been inoculated with a booster jab will observe a seven-day quarantine period.

Unvaccinated travellers will have to spend 10 days in isolation.

He said travellers who are under quarantine will no longer be given pink wristbands. Instead, they will be given a digital home surveillance order.

“With that, these travellers do not need to wear the regular surveillance wristbands.

“However, those arriving from high-risk countries and are allowed to undergo home quarantine will still be required to wear digital tracking devices.”

Meanwhile, he said the Health Ministry has also agreed to soon do away with mandatory temperature checks before entering premises.

“The proposal will be brought to the National Security Council meeting, and an update on the current National Recovery Plan standard operating procedures will be made.” – The Vibes, January 20, 2022
