MIRI – The Sarawak government declared effective today that the term “chief minister of Sarawak” will be replaced with “premier of Sarawak”.

The new term will officially be in use starting today, declared state secretary Datuk Amar Jaul Samion.

While the English term will be premier of Sarawak, Jaul said the Bahasa Malaysia term will be stated as “premier Sarawak”.

“The state assembly on February 15 had passed the amendments to the state constitution to restyle the term of chief minister of Sarawak to that of premier of Sarawak which comes into effect today.

“The Office of the Chief Minister of Sarawak will also be reclassified as the Office of the Premier of Sarawak,” he said in a press statement, today.

Samion said the new term will be used officially statewide starting today.

He added that the deputy chief ministers will be called deputy premiers while assistant ministers will be reclassified as deputy ministers. – The Vibes, March 1, 2022
