KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia’s daily Covid-19 caseload continues to surge with another 32,467 infections, the highest since the pandemic started.
This also breaches the 3.5 million cumulative mark as it stood at 3,528,557 as of midnight, according to CovidNow data.
Reported deaths are at 86 cases – bringing the toll to 33,028 – and of the new victims, 28 are classified as brought-in-dead.
Health Ministry data also shows another 11 new clusters, with five in the Klang Valley and seven categorised as education clusters.
Kuala Lumpur’s Jalan Sg Besi Tujuh detention cluster logged 11 cases with a positivity rate of 15.7%.
Selangor recorded four clusters – two education and two workplace – with a total of 68 cases.
The Batu 3 Jalan Cheras education cluster has 41 cases with a positivity rate of 27.7%, while the Jalan Kepala Bali education cluster has six cases and a positivity rate of 7.7%.
Meanwhile, the Industri Persiaran Damansara workplace cluster has 11 cases with a positivity rate of 0.6%, followed by the Jalan Lama Sg Limau workplace cluster with 10 cases and a positivity rate of 76.9%.
Johor’s Tg Labuh education cluster in Batu Pahat logged 36 infections, while its Jalan Dato Syed Abdul Kadir education cluster in Kota Tinggi recorded 19 cases.
Perak also has two education clusters – Batu 3 Jalan Pahang with 10 cases and Jalan Melati slim with 11 cases.
Pahang’s Kundang Patah detention cluster in Raub has 41 cases with a positivity rate of 70.7%, followed by Melaka’s Lorong Bukit Piatu 15 education cluster with 31 infections.
CovidNow data also reveals that a total of 8,322 cases are hospitalised, with 147 in intensive care and 208 with ventilator aid.
On the other hand, Selangor’s daily caseload continues upwards with 8,053, followed by Kedah (3,242), Kuala Lumpur (2,881), Sabah (2,717), Penang (2,488) and Negri Sembilan (2,045).
States below the 2,000 mark are Johor with 1,979 cases, Pahang (1,912), Kelantan (1,739), Perak (1,713), Sarawak (1,206), Terengganu (993), Melaka (821), Perlis (273), Labuan (270) and Putrajaya (135).
As for ICU bed usage, Malaysia overall is at 59.7%, while Penang’s usage increased to 73.1%, followed by Johor (72.9%), Kelantan (72.8%), Selangor (70.9%), Sabah (65.7%), Putrajaya (65%), Perak (64.7%), Kuala Lumpur (64.5%), Melaka (56.5%), Terengganu (54.1%), Kedah (51.4%), Sarawak (48.6%), Perlis (47.4%), Pahang (39%), Negri Sembilan (37.1%) and Labuan (25%).
Lastly, Category 2 remains the one with the most new cases with 21,408 infections (65.94%), followed by 10,828 (33.35%) in Category 1, 100 infections in Category 3, 68 in Category 5 and 63 in Category 4. – The Vibes, March 4, 2022
