[UPDATED] Autopsy findings of 13-year-old’s death after Covid-19 jab to be reviewed: KJ

KUALA LUMPUR – The autopsy findings of a 13-year-old boy who died less than three weeks after receiving his Covid-19 vaccine jab will be presented and discussed among forensic experts in a peer-review session next Monday, said Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

He, in a statement today, said results from all tests that have been conducted, including the histological examination will also be deliberated.

“The post-mortem report and all the results of subsequent tests will also be submitted to the parents of the deceased after the completion of the peer-review session.”

Earlier today, Khairy along with Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah and Serdang Hospital forensic specialist Dr Emizam Mohamadon had a meeting with parents at the Health Ministry.

The meeting with driver Naresh Kumar and housewife Vijayarani Govindan was held for 30 minutes, where they were briefed on the latest developments of the investigation into the death of their teenage son.

“They were also briefed on the ministry’s plans and commitment to identify the cause of death,” said Khairy.

At the same time, he said his ministry also plans to conduct additional tests on the internal tissue samples of the deceased, where they might be sent abroad for further testing.

“I have expressed my commitment to ensure this matter is being followed up immediately.”

He added that Naresh and Vijayarani have been informed on all these matters, saying they understood the explanation and have agreed on steps, which will be taken to identify the cause of death.

“The ministry staff and I would like to express our sympathy and condolences to the family of the late Revnesh on his passing.

“The progress of the investigation will be informed from time to time, and I would like to appeal to the community to respect the privacy and feelings of the family of the deceased.

“At the same time, I urge the public not to spread false information about this case.”

Previously, the parents of the late Revnesh called for a transparent probe into the cause of their son’s untimely death.

Naresh and his wife Vijayarani urged the ministry to expedite the investigation into the case, as the cause of death has yet to be confirmed.

They alleged that Revnesh’s death was related to his first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, which was taken on December 30.

On January 16, Revnesh was on the way to karate class when he began vomiting and then collapsed before he was rushed to Kajang Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

On February 24, Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the boy who died 18 days after receiving his Covid-19 vaccination did not report any side effects from the vaccine.

In a joint press conference with Khairy, he said no allergies, side effects, or adverse events following immunisation were reported to the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency. – The Vibes, March 4, 2022
