KUALA LUMPUR – The police have recorded statements from 21 witnesses with regards to the helicopter crash near Jalan Taman Melawati here on Sunday.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Mohamad Farouk Esha said the statements will be used to complete the report, which is expected to be classified as sudden death.

He said a post-mortem had been conducted on the two victims at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz UKM, Cheras on Monday.

"On the same day, the forensic department from Bukit Aman went to the hangar in Subang Airport to inspect the helicopter wreckage," Mohamad Farou added.

The public have also been urged not to distribute photographs and videos relating to the crash to avoid mass speculation.

Those with relevant information are advised to contact the Ampang Jaya District Police Headquarters at 03-4289 7343 or 03-4289 7344.

On November 8, two helicopters which took off from Subang crashed in Taman Melawati en route to Genting Sempah.

In the incident, two people were reported dead. They were identified as Mohamed Sabri Baharom, 56, and Mohd Irfan Fikri Mohamed Rawi, 41. 

Meanwhile two others in the other helicopter – former Malaysian Airlines group chief executive officer Ahmad Jauhari Yahya and Wendy Tan – suffered minor injuries. – The Vibes, November 11, 2020
