KUALA LUMPUR – A traffic policeman was injured when a tent set up for a roadblock at the Jalan Duta toll plaza here collapsed yesterday.
City Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Zulkefly Yahya said in the 6pm incident, the cop was taking shelter under the tent when heavy rains and strong winds caused the structure’s roof to give way.
The officer suffered head injuries.
“The victim, who works with the Kuala Lumpur traffic control division, is receiving treatment at Kuala Lumpur Hospital,” Zulkefly told Bernama.
He said the roadblock at the toll plaza has been mounted since October 14, when the conditional movement control order came into force in the capital, as well as Putrajaya and Selangor.
In another incident, a policeman with the Kuala Lumpur contingent headquarters communications workshop died when his motorcycle crashed into a concrete barrier at Alam Damai last night.
Zulkefly, in a statement, named the victim in the 7.50pm crash as 41-year-old Fariq Raub of Taman Cheras Utama.
“The victim was confirmed dead at the scene. His remains were sent to Canselor Tuanku Muhriz Hospital at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia for a post-mortem tomorrow (today).”
