KUALA LUMPUR – Shah Alam City Council and the Selangor Drainage and Irrigation Department are on alert as Sg Klang in Taman Sri Muda has passed dangerous levels following today’s continuous rain, said Kota Kemuning assemblyman Ganabatirau Veraman.

Speaking to The Vibes, he said the state government agencies are aware of the rising water levels; however, no warnings of flood have been issued.

Ganabatirau, who is also a Selangor exco member, added that all four pumps at the river in Sri Muda are working well as of 3.30pm today.

“No flood warnings at Taman Sri Muda yet, but we are aware that the rising waters have reached Sg Damansara. Since the rain stopped, the water level (in the river) is subsiding now,” he told The Vibes.

Checks by The Vibes on the Public Infobanjir website showed that the water levels at Sg Klang in Taman Sri Muda have exceeded the danger level and are showing an uptrend.

The data from the website showed that Sg Klang by Taman Sri Muda recorded a level of 5.04m (danger level 5m) at 5pm today.

Over at Sg Rasau in Tugu Keris, Klang, it has also passed the danger level and is now at 4.32m (danger level 3.9m).

Sg Damansara in Batu 3, Petaling was showing warning levels at 5pm as it recorded a level of 5.96m (danger level 5m).

Earlier, The Vibes reported that the SMART Tunnel, which was closed at noon today, reopened to traffic at 1.20pm as water levels subsided in Kuala Lumpur and the rain began to recede. – The Vibes, May 25, 2022
