KUALA LUMPUR – Khalid Abdul Samad has rubbished a news portal’s report that Amanah is split into two camps, each supporting Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as prime minister.

The party’s communications director said members have signed statutory declarations backing Port Dickson MP Anwar for the top job.

“The news report isn’t accurate, and it should be corrected,” the Shah Alam MP told a press conference in the Parliament building today.

He said there are Amanah leaders who do not want to criticise former prime minister Dr Mahathir and Parti Warisan Sabah president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal.

Khalid added that the opposition must be united to take down the Perikatan Nasional administration.

There are certain parties trying to imply that the relationships within the Pakatan Plus coalition are not rosy, hoping that the pact breaks up, he said.

He said Amanah is in the midst of getting Dr Mahathir and Shafie’s support so that the opposition bloc is of one voice during the vote on Budget 2021. – The Vibes, November 19, 2020
