KOTA BARU – Tumpat Hospital no longer accepts cases other than Covid-19 starting yesterday, said Kelantan Health Department director Datuk Dr Zaini Hussin.

He said this was in preparation for any possibility of an increase in cases in the state.

Zaini added that cases from the emergency and trauma unit requiring admission would be sent to Pasir Mas Hospital, Tengku Anis Hospital in Pasir Puteh, and Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital in Kota Baru.

“Starting from last night, Tumpat Hospital will be operating as a Covid-19 hospital,” he told Bernama when contacted today.

However, Zaini said in emergency cases requiring urgent treatment, such as major heart attacks, critical shortness of breath, and other life-threatening illnesses, patients could still seek treatment from Tumpat Hospital, although they would be transferred to another hospital if they needed to be admitted.

He said that as of yesterday, 240 Covid-19 positive cases were recorded in Kelantan. – Bernama, November 19, 2020
