KUALA LUMPUR – PKR’s Ayuh Malaysia campaign is close to beating the Facebook reach of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN), said PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli.
“Since Najib’s social media reach is only on Facebook, the combined social media footprint by Pakatan Harapan (PH) personalities on various platforms can overtake him, Umno and BN by next month.
“Our reach on social media is not just about the number of followers. It is also based on the number of impressions, engagements and most importantly, shares.
“There are many accounts that have millions of followers with the help of troll farms but they don’t have many shares,” he told approximately 300 supporters at Wangsa Maju here during the launch of Ayuh Malaysia’s campaign truck last night.
The campaign is aimed at dispelling misinformation online and will be releasing a report in two to three weeks.
Meanwhile, Rafizi said the campaign has been running well and trying to bring back the same excitement as witnessed in the 2018 general election.
He added that the Ayuh Malaysia truck is targeting six parliamentary seats every weekend beginning this month, increasing in frequency by October – especially marginal seats.
“Most of the seats held by PKR are either marginal or mixed, which means votes can go either way. Performance in marginal seats will determine what happens to PH.”
On the truck’s significance, Rafizi said it gives people something to follow while providing voters, especially those on the fence, the confidence to turn up and vote.
“While the current sentiment on the ground is against BN due to alleged misconducts being brought to light, PH is also seen as weak and not an immediate choice for voters.
“To those who are not fans of BN but are also wary of PH, give us one or two months to prove that we will put up a fight.”
He added that Invoke Malaysia had conducted a survey, which found that the people’s level of happiness has drastically declined, with about 80% of respondents last month saying they are deeply unsatisfied with current economic conditions.
Rafizi said the percentage this year is lower than during the build-up to the 2018 general election where PH won 113 seats over BN’s 79. – The Vibes, August 21, 2022
