Suspected Covid-19 patient who fled Perak hospital detained

TG MALIM – Police yesterday detained a suspected Covid-19 patient who escaped from Slim River Hospital here.

District police chief Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman, in a statement, said the force received a call from the hospital on the male patient, who escaped from Ward 7, at 4.48pm.

The 29-year-old was detained about 6pm near a petrol station in the Bandar Baru Slim River area.

“A medical team took him back to the hospital,” said Sulizmie Affendy.

He said it has since been confirmed that the man tested neative for the coronavirus, and will be discharged today.

Checks showed that the man has six criminal records.

He has been arrested to facilitate investigations under Sections 186 and 269 of the Penal Code, and Section 22(b) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988. – Bernama, November 23, 2020
