KUALA LUMPUR – The floods in Klang and Shah Alam have forced another 16 flood victims to be evacuated to flood relief centres.
They were sent to the Masjid Al Falah relief centre in Kg Budiman, Klang which now houses 45 flood victims from 14 families.
Unfortunately, four of them tested positive for Covid-19 and were isolated in the centre’s community hall, which currently houses 32 victims from 10 families.
Meanwhile, the SK Johan Setia relief centre currently houses 146 victims from 43 families.
Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari had also recently posted on his Twitter account his visits to multiple relief centres in the affected areas.
Fire and Rescue Department personnel are also on standby with all the relevant equipment at Taman Sri Muda in the event of more flash floods.
“We are here as part of early preparations, as Sri Muda is at risk of flooding,” department senior officer, Mohd Supi, said when met at Seksyen 15 in Shah Alam this morning.
He also said Sri Muda residents appeared to be prepared after the residential area was flooded more than once since December last year.
“What we noticed is that residents here are generally ready and have learnt from past floods.
For example, three days ago there was flooding in a few areas but many of them were prepared, and had moved their vehicles to higher ground,” Supi said. – The Vibes, November 11, 2022
