JALAN Kuchai Lama in Kuala Lumpur was hit by floods again today – a repeat of what happened at the location in 2022.

The matter was shared by Threads user roul_ismail today.

According to him, the flooding incident is expected to cause delays to several bus services on the affected route.

“Jalan Kuchai Lama was hit by floods today, May 6, 2026. The last time it happened was in 2022 at the same place.

“Expect delays for buses T585, T586, T587, T588 and RapidKL 590,” he said.

He added that the water has not receded even after 30 minutes of the incident.

Meanwhile, a food court at Jalan 51A/223, Section 51A, Petaling Jaya, was flooded with almost 1.2 metres of water in a flash flood incident following the heavy rain this evening.

Assistant Director of the Operations Division, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar, said his department received an emergency call at about 4.15 pm.

He said a team of personnel from the Petaling Jaya Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) arrived at the location about 11 minutes later.

"The operations commander reported that there was flash flooding in the Medan Selera Jaya area with an estimated water depth of about 1.2 metres.

"There were several vehicles in the food court parking area that were also reported to be affected," he said in a statement today.

Ahmad Mukhlis said no victims were evacuated in the incident, with the water level reportedly receding as the operation was carried out. – May 6, 2026
