KUALA LUMPUR – Twelve-term parliamentarian Tan Sri Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah has suffered a crushing defeat to Islamist party PAS, with the latter taking over his hold on the Gua Musang federal constituency.
Tengku Razaleigh, better known as Ku Li, was bested from the constituency which he has held for nine consecutive terms by a mere 163 votes.
The seat will now be taken over by PAS’ Mohd Azizi Abu Naim, who secured 21,826 votes, narrowly beating out the Umno veteran.
Candidates from Pakatan Harapan and Pejuang both lost their deposits.
