JOHOR BARU – A man was injured after being attacked with a machete at Jalan Scientex Jaya, Taman Scientex, Senai yesterday.

Kulai police chief Tok Beng Yeow said they received a distress call on the attack at 7.50pm.

He said the 27-year-old victim suffered injuries to his shoulders, both his hands, and legs. He is now being treated at Sultanah Aminah Hospital here.

“He is also in stable condition,” said Tok in a statement today.

He said police recovered a white Honda Accord driven by a man believed to be involved in the incident at 3.40am today.

He said when found at a petrol station in Taman Aman, Senai, a 23-year-old woman was behind the wheel and following checks, police found a machete in the car.

“A local man aged 24 then appeared. Police then detained both individuals and brought them to the Kulai police headquarters for further investigation,” he said.

Tok then said a team from the Kulai Criminal Investigation Department then raided a house in Senai and arrested another man, aged 34, to assist in the investigation.

Further checks revealed that both men have prior criminal and drug abuse records.

“All of them have been remanded for four days beginning today under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code to assist in the investigation which is being carried out under Section 324 of the Penal Code,” he added. – Bernama, December 9, 2022
