KUALA LUMPUR – Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah today visited the site of the landslide-hit Father’s Organic Farm campsite in Gohtong Jaya, Batang Kali.

The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department shared several images of Tunku Azizah at the disaster site where she was seen riding at the back of a department pickup truck on a muddy trail in the area.

On Twitter, the department said the queen was accompanied by Chief Secretary to the Government of Malaysia Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali to receive updates on the search-and-rescue operations there.

As of late afternoon today, a total of 24 victims had been confirmed dead, while the search is ongoing for nine people who are still missing.

A total of 94 victims were recorded to have been staying at the Father’s Organic Farm campsite when a gigantic torrent of earth cascaded from the slope along the stretch of road above.

Of these, 61 people have been rescued.

Many of the victims were staff and students of SJK (C) Mun Choong on an overnight nature outing.

According to Sinar Harian, the queen arrived at the site at around 4.15pm today and spent roughly an hour there to give moral support to the rescuers, apart from receiving their briefing.

Tunku Azizah was then seen leaving the area at about 5.20pm.

Also present during her visit was Fire and Rescue Department director-general Datuk Seri Mohammad Hamdan Wahid and Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani. – The Vibes, December 18, 2022
