IPOH – Perak Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) have agreed to form a consultative committee to ensure a stable state government.

Perak PH chairman Datuk Seri Mujahid Yusof Rawa and his BN counterpart Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, in a joint statement today, said the formation of the committee was a symbol of their commitment to upholding the decree of Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah that political stability should always be nurtured to ensure economic prosperity and the people’s well-being.

“The committee held its first meeting yesterday, chaired by Saarani and Mujahid,” the statement read.

The following are matters that have been agreed upon by both parties:

  • Ensuring the state government remains stable until the end of its five-year term by joining hands in upholding the state constitution
  • Ensuring that the people’s welfare agenda is always prioritised by fostering the values of unity under the leadership of the menteri besar and his administrative team
  • Prospering Perak with economic activities and generating state income through government administration practices that are clean, transparent, fair, and responsible to all, regardless of race and religion
  • Strengthening and utilising media channels on all platforms more effectively to convey information to the people of Perak in particular and Malaysians in general about the state government’s policies and achievement
  • To maintain harmonious relations between parties at all levels to make the state administration successful and smooth at the grassroots level

PH and BN had agreed to form a unity government in Perak after no single party or coalition obtained a simple majority in last month’s state election, with Perikatan Nasional winning 26 seats, PH (24), and BN (nine) in the 59-member assembly. – Bernama, December 21, 2022
