KUALA LUMPUR – Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Datuk Norazam Khamis, who was hospitalised after suffering a minor stroke during the search-and-rescue operations for the Batang Kali landslide, has returned to the incident site today.

Appearing in good spirits, Norazam indicated that he was well on his way to recovering and had arrived on the scene today shortly after being discharged from Selayang Hospital.

“I am in good condition and well...and I am here to visit my officers to raise their spirits in searching for the remaining victims,” he said, as quoted by Channel News Asia.

“I want to thank all those (media) present here in giving us the strength (to carry out our operations) up till this point.”

“God-willing, we will continue to search for the victims who are still missing.”

On Monday, Norazam was rushed to the hospital due to exhaustion after experiencing a minor stroke.

At the time, the department said his condition was “under control” and that he was still conscious despite the health complication.

The search-and-rescue team had found four more bodies earlier today, all wrapped in a tent, 7m deep in Sector C of the incident site in Father’s Organic Farm, Batang Kali.

The first body today was recovered at 10.30am and the rest at 10.43am. They were one man, one woman, a boy, and a girl.

Meanwhile, Hulu Selangor district police chief Suffian Abdullah said the bodies were found intact and sent to Sg Buloh Hospital for identification and post-mortem autopsy.

This morning’s discovery brings the total number of bodies found at the site to 30. – The Vibes, December 22, 2022
