KOTA KINABALU – Some 84 secondary school students sponsored by Yayasan Sabah (YS) in the peninsula arrived here today after being stranded for more than a month in their hostels following the enforcement of the conditional movement control order in the state.
The Form one to Form Four students arrived at Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) at 1.40pm and were greeted by YS director Datuk Ghulam Haidar Khan Bahadar.
“All the students underwent swab tests before being sent back to Sabah,” he told reporters at KKIA.
He said students who come from districts near here or live in the area will be sent back and undergo quarantine for 14 days at their homes.
He said 15 students will return to Tawau and three more to Lahad Datu tomorrow.
“Therefore, parents need to be responsible in ensuring that their children do not move about freely to prevent the spread of Covid-19.”
Ghulam Haidar said another flight from Kuala Lumpur to Sandakan has been scheduled to bring nine more YS-sponsored students this Friday.
“There are still 25 Form Five YS-sponsored students staying in the YS house in the peninsula who have not been sent back because they are sitting for exams.” – Bernama, December 2, 2020
