KOTA KINABALU – Sabah Chief Minister II Datuk Joachim Gunsalam will take over the duties as Covid-19 coordinating minister from Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun from tomorrow.

Masidi who is now state finance minister following a Sabah cabinet reshuffle said the move was in line with the change in portfolio after Joachim was appointed as state local government and housing minister which was previously held by him.

Masidi in a statement today thanked all parties involved in the management of Covid-19 in Sabah, especially the Health Ministry, Sabah Health Department, health and security personnel, Covid-19 secretariat in the Chief Minister’s Department, and all district offices in the state.

“Special appreciation to all media practitioners who had been very helpful in disseminating information on the development of Covid-19 in Sabah since I took over the responsibility more than two years ago,” he said.

In his last Covid-19 report today, Masidi reported that Sabah recorded its lowest infection since September 3, 2020 when only six new cases were recorded today.

“Positivity rate is the lowest, at 0.46% with 1,295 sample tests conducted,” he said. – Bernama, January 12, 2023
