KUANTAN – A settler was killed after the backhoe he was driving overturned while passing through a hilly road in a plantation at Felda Keratong 7, Muadzam Shah, about 120km from here, yesterday.
Rompin police chief ASP Azari Miskon said the victim, Abd Hadi Ramlan, 64, was crushed by the vehicle and confirmed dead at the scene in the 5.20pm incident.
“The victim, who owned the backhoe, was understood to have gone to the plantation to extricate a lorry that had bogged down.
“However, the backhoe went out of control while driving along an uneven stretch of road and overturned, crushing him,” he said when contacted today.
Azari said the body was sent to Muadzam Shah Hospital for post-mortem.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
