SINGAPORE – Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has arrived in Singapore for his third overseas tour and first official visit to the island nation south of Peninsular Malaysia on a one-day trip.

Arriving at the VIP Complex at Changi Airport at 9.40am, the prime minister first headed to the Malaysian High Commission for his pre-council briefing.

He will be heading to The Istana, which is the official office and residence for the republic’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and head of state President Halimah Yaakob at around 11am.

He is expected to take part in an orchid-naming ceremony at the palace’s Reception Room before paying his courtesy call to Halimah.

Between 11.50am to 12.20pm, the Tambun MP will have a four-eye meeting with his counterpart Lee before adjourning for a delegation meeting.

The prime minister is expected to discuss issues pertaining to cybersecurity, green and digital economy, and sensitive issues such as maritime border limitation, airspace, and water supply to Malaysia’s southern neighbour.

Later, the national leaders witnessed a memorandum of understanding signing ceremony, before being hosted for the official lunch.

Anwar will then head to Shangri-La Hotel to witness the exchange ceremony of the Cross-Border Electricity Purchase Agreement between YTL PowerSeraya Pte Ltd and Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB).

At 4.15pm, the Tambun MP will have high tea with the Malaysian diaspora in Singapore at the High Commission, before heading home to Kuala Lumpur at around 6pm. – The Vibes, January 30, 2023
