BUTTERWORTH – A body was found adrift near the Penang Bridge, just a day after a 34-year-old man survived falling into the sea along the same span due to a low tide condition here.
In a video widely shared online, a body believed to be of a male was found floating near the bridge’s middle section, about the same area where the other man was rescued by firemen yesterday.
A state Fire and Rescue Department spokesman at its main operations room confirmed the grisly discovery.
A police marine craft recovered the body and the remains were sent to the Penang Hospital for a post-mortem.
It was learnt that the body had no identification papers.
In yesterday’s case, the man in question breathed a sigh of relief when his calls for help were heard after falling off the Penang Bridge along the island-bound lane at around 3pm.
The man reportedly fell into the sea off the bridge but the low tide had probably prevented any unfortunate incidents from happening. – The Vibes, February 1, 2023
