JOHOR BARU – Putrajaya has launched an online platform allowing Malaysians to provide feedback on federal ministers, including the prime minister and his deputies.
The purpose of the platform is to allow the federal administration to gauge public perception of the ministers’ performances 100 days into the formation of the unity government.
This comes after Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced the implementation of a 100-day KPI for ministers during his trip to Jakarta, Indonesia on January 8.
The platform would allow citizens to provide their feedback on 28 ministers involving 25 ministries and three agencies under the Prime Minister’s Department.
The evaluation would be based on ministry or agency performance, leadership assessment with regard to the implementation of initiatives and public perception towards the cabinet.
The online survey, which is said to take less than five minutes to complete, will be based on two parts – respondent demographics and the evaluation of the ministers themselves.
Those who are interested in providing feedback can visit this website and click on Survey on Minister, upon which a list of ministers will appear.
Users can then choose the minister they would like to evaluate and answer the series of questions provided by rating them from one to 10.
Examples of the questions are:
- (The minister) has citizens’ best interest in mind when making a decision
- (The minister) projects a positive charisma when engaging with the citizens
- (The minister) takes ownership and responsibility in performing duties
- (The minister) makes public declaration on any interests in programme/project involvement
In August 2021, former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced a similar initiative whereby ministers would need to prove their performance within the first 100 days in office.
In December of the same year, the Bera MP gave the cabinet a 90% score for its performance in office, adding that full marks are achievable if ministers continued to work closely with civil servants to provide the best service to citizens.
However, the high score did not go down well as political observers questioned the manner in which the scoring was done and how the cabinet was able to obtain high marks for a relatively sub-par performance. – The Vibes, February 15, 2023
