KOTA KINABALU – Labuan police have arrested a 22-year-old man following a road rage incident which was caught on a dashcam and subsequently went viral yesterday afternoon.

Labuan police chief Ahmad Jawilla said the suspect was detained around 3.45pm yesterday following the release of the video on social media showing him assaulting the 26-year-old victim.

Ahmad Jawilla also confirmed receiving a police report from the victim on April 12, four days after the dashcam video was shared on social media.

He added the dispute broke out over the suspect not using his signal light while turning into an adjacent lane at a U-turn section at Jalan Patau-Patau on the island.

The victim suffered injuries to his forehead, a nosebleed, and had complained of pain in his eyes, while his vehicle was also damaged in the incident.

Ahmad Jawilla also said the victim had to first seek hospital treatment before lodging the police report last Wednesday.

“The suspect was seen coming out from his vehicle and began punching the victim. At the time of the incident the wife of the victim was also in the car,” he said. – The Vibes, April 17, 2023
