KUALA LUMPUR – The Perikatan Nasional-held (PN) states of Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu are looking at dissolving their legislatures in June to pave the way for state elections, PAS vice-president Datuk Nik Mohd Amar Abdullah said.
He also claimed that the Pakatan Harapan-led states – Negri Sembilan, Penang, and Selangor – had also agreed to dissolve their assemblies in the same month, the New Straits Times reported.
Amar, who is also Kelantan deputy menteri besar, said the state had already decided to dissolve its assembly at the end of June and that the other five states will do so in the same month.
“Dissolution for the five states will take place in stages but all will take place in June,” he was quoted as saying at Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob’s Raya open house.
The PAS leader also said the party had its list of proposed candidates ready for Ahmad to decide.
As for seat distributions within PN, he said PAS will contest the seats it had won previously, while seats won by Barisan Nasional will be contested by Bersatu. – The Vibes, April 23, 2023
