KUALA LUMPUR – Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu caused a commotion in the Dewan Rakyat today when the former Perak menteri besar, during a debate speech, quipped that the state’s political crisis has been resolved.
The Tambun MP said he learnt about this from Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and PAS’ Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, who are scheduled to attend a Muafakat Nasional meeting today.
“After referring to Bagan Datuk (Zahid) and Marang (Hadi), I found out that the Perak issue has been resolved.”
This triggered roars from the opposition side, with one lawmaker saying: “That is irrelevant. That’s a state matter, this is federal (Parliament).”
Another MP took a swipe at PAS, saying the Islamist party supports traitors.
However, one was heard encouraging Bersatu No. 2 Faizal, saying: “Steady, Peja.”
Faizal quit as menteri besar on Saturday, a day after losing a confidence vote in the state assembly.
All three PAS assemblymen in Perak are scheduled to have an audience with Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah at 4.30pm today.
Yesterday, Dewan Negara Perak member Datuk Seri Mohd Annuar Zaini confirmed that the ceremony to inaugurate the new menteri besar will be put on hold until the ruler is convinced that an assemblyman commands majority support. – The Vibes, December 9, 2020
