PUTRAJAYA – The Agriculture and Food Security Ministry today announced the appointment of new chairmen for five statutory bodies under the ministry, effective May 15.

They are Muhammad Faiz Fadzil as chairman of the Fisheries Development Authority of Malaysia, Datuk Mahfuz Omar for the Farmers’ Organisation Authority, Aminuddin Zulkipli for the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority, Azman Ismail for the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute, and Sheikh Umar Bagharib Ali for the Malaysian Pineapple Industry Board.

Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu said in a statement today that the appointments were based on the individuals’ extensive experience in various fields including policymaking, management, administration, and services.

“I am confident in the knowledge, credibility and experience they possess in leading and bearing the trust and responsibility in supporting and ensuring reforms in line with the aspirations of Malaysia Madani,” he said, adding that the appointments were approved by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. – Bernama, May 10, 2023
