KUALA LUMPUR – Residents of 99 areas in Klang, Shah Alam, and Kuala Selangor are set to face water cuts due to emergency repair work carried out by state water supplier Air Selangor next week.

In a statement, today, Air Selangor said the emergency repairs were due to a burst pipe at Jalan Bukit Cerakah, Bandar Puncak Alam, Kuala Selangor.

“The implementation of these works will cause an unscheduled water supply disruption in 99 areas in the Klang/Shah Alam and Kuala Selangor regions starting from 9am, May 22 (Monday).

“These repair works are expected to be completed at 3am, May 23 (Tuesday).

“Water supply will be distributed to consumers in stages when the repair works are completed and the main water supply distribution system has been stabilised.

“Water supply is expected to fully recover at 9pm, May 24 (Wednesday),” it said.

Air Selangor further stated that the repairs involve a main distribution pipe with a diameter of 2,200mm and a large-scale distribution area.

“Therefore, the repair works and recovery period will require a longer time.

“However, if the leak becomes critical, the emergency repair works will begin earlier than the date mentioned earlier.”

How long the water cut will last and the time taken for supply to recover in affected areas will vary by location and water pressure at the distribution system, Air Selangor said.

“Air Selangor would like to advise the affected customers to store an adequate water supply and use water prudently during the unscheduled water supply disruption period.”

The list of areas affected by the scheduled water cut is available via this link

“Consumers can also obtain information on this unscheduled water supply disruption from time to time through our official communication channels such as the Air Selangor app, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter or contact Air Selangor at 15300.

“Any questions and complaints can be submitted to the Help Centre on the website www.airselangor.com and Air Selangor app.” – The Vibes, May 17, 2023
