KUALA LUMPUR – Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Mohd Puad Zarkashi today said admiring and hailing Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor as a warrior is a sign of extreme obsession.

“Is Sanusi really a great leader? Can a leader swat another person’s head with paper?” he asked.

He said Sanusi is still being hailed as a hero despite his alleged links to the Kedah rare earth theft cases.

“He is being praised as a warlord despite these allegations…this is an extreme obsession,” he said in a Facebook post.

Puad also took a swipe at the latest findings by think tank Ilham Centre, which revealed that Umno grassroots wanted a change in the leadership to rejuvenate the party.

“Umno realises and admits (that) we are losing the support of the people (in general) and the Malays.

“We are not denying that…there is no ‘denial syndrome’.

“However, there are some quarters, including Ilham Centre, that only scrutinise certain reasons in their analysis.

“They’re only focusing on Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi resigning (as party president) and for new leaders to step up.

“However, Ilham Centre is not daring enough to commit (to the idea) that if Zahid steps down, all problems would be resolved.

“Also, according to the think tank, Umno needs drastic changes, but it doesn’t state what changes are needed.”

He added that Malaysia is dealing with politics of “extreme fanaticism”, and that Umno is a victim of this. – The Vibes, August 26, 2023
