PETALING JAYA – Incumbent MCA president Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong retained his post in the party’s elections with a huge victory against Datuk Tan Chong Seng.
Wee polled 569 votes, while Tan only managed 11.
Deputy president Datuk Mah Hang Soon was returned unopposed.
As for the vice-presidencies, Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker failed in his bid to defend his post for a second term.
Incumbents Datuk Lim Ban Hong and Datuk Tan Teik Cheng retained their positions, securing 459 votes and 453 votes respectively.
The other two posts were won by newcomers Datuk Seri Wee Jeck Seng with 477 votes and Datuk Lawrence Low Ah Keong with 459 votes.
Ti managed to secure 136 votes.
The party also elected 25 new central committee members from a total of 48 candidates.
“We will call for a meeting soon and also have a brainstorming session on how to steer the party forward,” said Wee.
Delegates voted for the Youth and Wanita wings on Saturday with Yong Peng assemblyman Ling Tian Soon and incumbent Wong You Fong winning the chairman posts respectively.
