PETALING JAYA – An MP today urged the police to explain how a police officer could afford luxury watches worth hundreds of thousands of ringgit.
Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng said this after a 41-year-old housewife was recently charged with stealing her police officer husband’s luxury Rolex watches three years ago.
“It is the responsibility of the police to explain to the public how the officer could own these watches,” Lim said in a statement today.
The estimated price for the watches stolen was RM207,000 for the Sky-Dweller and RM198,000 for the GMT Master-II 9.
“If police remain silent on this, it will only give them a bad reputation,” he said.
Yesterday, Datuk Mou Ei Leen claimed trial in the Ipoh magistrates’ court for stealing the Rolex watches from her husband three years ago.
The offence, under Section 380 of the Penal Code, carries a maximum of 10 years imprisonment and a fine, upon conviction. – The Vibes, October 14, 2023
