SINGAPORE – A 34-year-old man from Ukraine died of Covid-19 complications on Sunday, taking Singapore’s total virus fatalities to 38.

The sailor, known as imported case No. 67,264, arrived in the city state aboard a vessel on July 29, said the Health Ministry last night.

It said the victim experienced fever, cough and fatigue on July 25, and suffered breathing difficulties on July 31.

“He was brough to Singapore General Hospital on August 1, and was confirmed positive for Covid-19 the same day.”

Previously, the country’s last coronavirus death – an 83-year-old Singaporean woman – was reported on July 24.

As of noon yesterday, the nation’s overall infections stood at 65,213.

There are 602 patients in hospital, with 36 requiring medical oxygen and seven in intensive care.

Singapore reported 10 new clusters yesterday, making for 93 active clusters.

As of Sunday, 62% of its population had been fully vaccinated, while 77% had received at least one dose. – Bernama, August 3, 2021
